SPF Private Clients Associate Gary Wallbridge has been channelling his inner Dragon as he took on the challenge of being part of a professional panel for a local round of Dragons Den for a student assignment held on 15th December.

The students in question in their second year (Year 13) of the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport (Performance and Excellence) at Guernsey College of Further Education, and are based at Les Ozouets Campus. They worked in teams to come up with ideas based on sports products and facilities, and at the end of their research, they had to present their business model and answer various questions regarding market research and competitors.

Well done to everyone who took part. We hope you enjoyed the day as much as Gary did!

“This was a really good and fun event.  The aim was for each of the three teams to present their ideas to the four Dragons (each with their unique persona) with a view to attracting a potential investor and then to answer a barrage of questions as their idea and plans were scrutinised in true ‘Dragons Den’ fashion.  However all three teams weathered the storm and did a magnificent job in presenting their business plan to the Dragons in a professional and mature way.  The only down side was I managed to spend, or should I say invest, £1.25m in two of the teams schemes, I’m sure I will see a great return on my investment.”
