We’re delighted to be continuing our sponsorship of Guernsey Football Club, by sponsoring Harry Tobin. We managed to catch up with him to ask a few questions about himself and his football background.

1: How old are you and what position do you play?

25 years old, usually I play Left back but have also played centre back this season

2: How long have you been in GFC?

I joined GFC in the summer after representing Guernsey FA at the island games

3: Could you give us a some information about your football background before arriving in Guernsey in 2013?

When I was younger I played for my local football team in Bristol, I then got scouted and played for Bristol City from the age of 10-13. I was released at the age of 13 and then went back to playing for the local football team with my mates until I was 16 when I joined Keynsham town who play in the tool station league. I played for them for two years until I was 18 and went to Swansea University.

At Swansea University I played for the first team for 3 years, during this time we won promotion to the BUCS premier division and also beat Cardiff University in the Varsity.

Prior to moving to Guernsey I have always played centre midfield, however, since moving to the island I have mainly played at centre back and now I am playing left back for Guernsey, it has taken some time to get used to but I am enjoying it very much

4: How many away games are planned this year for GFC? How are you finding the traveling?

We have 23 away games during the season, thankfully my work are supportive of me playing in the mid-week away games which is a great bonus and has meant I have been able to make most games this season!

The traveling aspect of playing for GFC is sometimes challenging, especially when you have to be at the airport for 6am on a Saturday. But I am starting to get used to that now and we have had some great laughs on the coach after games!

5: What are some of your favourite things about Guernsey and why do you choose Guernsey as your home?

1.     Everyone in Guernsey is really friendly and welcoming which definitely helped me settle in

2.     I enjoy the football which has taken up a lot of my free time over the past 12 months

3.     Its sunnier then Bristol and there are some lovely beaches on your doorstep
